Metrix Metal Sp. z o.o., located in Tczew, is a plant specializing in precision metal processing. In order to optimize the ordered power and reduce fees resulting from hourly overruns – the company decided to implement the MCA5Tech system with the function of a power guard, integrated with the local metering infrastructure.
Scope of implementation
- Technical design and arrangements with the gas supplier.
- Integration with the MacBat 5 gas converter, with data transmission via RS485/Modbus.
- Application of an intrinsically safe barrier in an explosion hazard zone.
- MCA5tech installation with LAN connection of the plant.
- Programming the parameters of the power guard and control of gas boilers.
The MCA5tech system acts as a local analysis and control center, which autonomously manages the limitation of the power of heating boilers in the plant. The device records and analyses data on the instantaneous gas flow, power consumption, volume increase, and then extrapolates the values to the expected consumption in the nearest periods of 5m, 15m, 30m and 1h. All events are recorded in the system’s database, with the possibility of viewing them up to several years back. The entire process takes place in real time, without the need for operators, which ensures reliability, immediate response of the system and full autonomy of operation.
Implementation results
- Elimination of exceeding the ordered power.
- Cost stabilization – no penalty fees for exceedances.
- Increasing energy efficiency – adaptive control of equipment operation.
Meaning
The implementation of the MCA5tech system in Metrix Metal is an example of effective energy management in an industrial plant. Recording and automatic data analysis enable real optimization of utility costs without the need for complex control systems. The system meets the requirements for automation, safety and reliability – in line with good practices in the area of energy management and ESG policy.
